How to get Courses Evaluated?

For Grades 9 to 12, a final percentage grade is recorded for each course, calculated as follows:

During the course

70% of the final grade will be based on ongoing evaluations. This portion should represent the student’s most consistent level of achievement, while giving special consideration to more recent evidence of learning.

Final Evaluation

Thirty percent of the final grade will be based on an evaluation conducted at or near the end of the course. This may include one or a combination of the following: an examination, a performance, an essay, or another method appropriate to the course content. The final evaluation provides students with an opportunity to demonstrate comprehensive achievement of the course’s overall expectations.
Our certified teachers assess all assignments, quizzes, tests, and final examinations using the provincial achievement chart. This chart outlines four levels of achievement, each corresponding to a specific percentage range, as described above. Below is an example of the achievement chart for English, Grades 9–12; however, each course has its own specific chart. For more information, please visit Ontario’s Curriculum and Resources website.
